Welcome

The Conference on Physiology of Yeasts and Filamentous Fungi (PYFF) is a premier international scientific event held every three years since its inception in 2001 in Copenhagen. Its primary goal is to bring together researchers from academia and industry who are engaged in the study of the physiology, metabolism, and genetics of yeasts and filamentous fungi, as well as their biotechnological applications.

The conference features presentations on a wide range of yeast and filamentous fungal species, providing a platform to share the latest scientific advances and promote interdisciplinary collaborations. PYFF is sponsored by the Microbial Biotechnology Division of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), a non-profit federation of biotechnology companies, academic institutions, and independent professionals.

The ninth edition (PYFF9) will take place in Valencia, Spain. It will be primarily organized by members of the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA), part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The main PYFF9 topics will cover research and innovation in evolution and adaptation; mechanisms of fungal pathogenesis; synthetic biology and systems biology; applications of fungi and yeasts in food and beverage fermentations; cell factories; application to the circular economy and sustainable production; and emerging tools and technologies in the transformation of fungal biotechnology common to both yeasts and filamentous fungi.
