Abstract submission

We invite submissions of abstracts for oral or poster presentations.
Authors are encouraged to submit original work related to the conference themes.

Deadline: 15 May 2026

Presentation types

  • Oral presentation: Selected contributions will be allocated a time slot within the scientific program, including time for discussion and questions.
  • Poster presentation: Posters will be displayed throughout the conference, with dedicated poster sessions for interaction and exchange.

Abstracts are welcome on (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • Unlocking the secrets of fungal physiology and metabolism
  • Adapting to survive: Inside the evolutionary strategies of fungi
  • Pathogenic strategies and resistance mechanisms in fungi
  • Advances in synthetic biology and innovative technologies for yeasts and filamentous fungi
  • Exploring fermentation as a driver of innovation in food and beverages
  • Engineering yeasts and filamentous fungi as cell factories
  • Fungal contributions to the advancement of the bioeconomy
  • Harnessing artificial intelligence and data science in fungal biotechnology

Submission guidelines

  • Each participant may submit only one abstract.
  • The abstract title should be less than 160 characters and must not be written in all capital letters.
  • Non-standard abbreviations should be avoided in the title, but may be used in the text if defined at first usage.
  • The abstract must include the name of the presenting author, all co-authors, and their affiliations.
  • The body of the abstract should not exceed 1,600 characters, including footnotes.
  • Standard abbreviations and SI units must be used. Abstracts must not include tables, charts, or figures.

The Scientific Committee will determine the type of contribution (short oral presentation or poster) based on the abstract review. Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance by 30 June 2026.

How is the abstract submission process?
During the registration process, you will have the option to submit an abstract for either an oral or a poster presentation.
Can I submit more than one abstract?
No, each participant may submit only one abstract, either for an oral or a poster presentation.
Can I submit an abstract by email?
No, abstracts can be submitted only via the online submission services. Any abstract sent by email will not be accepted and automatically returned to the sender.
I have submitted my abstract, but I need to make a correction in the content/title/authors list. What can I do?
If your abstract is saved as a draft, you can make any necessary modifications before the submission deadline. Once the abstract has been formally submitted, no changes can be made to its content or information (such as the list of authors, topic, or category).
To correct an already submitted abstract, you must first withdraw it and then submit the updated version before the submission deadline. Please note that replacing your abstract after the deadline is not possible.

How many presenting authors can one abstract have?
Each abstract must have one presenting author and may include up to 20 authors in total.
What are the poster specifications?
  • The maximum poster board dimensions are: 48 x 36 in (121.9 x 91.4 cm).
  • Push-pins will be provided.
  • The poster presentation should cover all key aspects of the work and contain the following items, where applicable: abstract, introduction, materials, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, references.
  • Extensive narratives are not necessary. Short, “bulleted” statements are preferred.
  • Results presented in the form of figures, diagrams, graphs etc. are preferred but may be presented in clear, concise tabular format.
  • Statistical data should be titled and summarized in a clear, concise format.
  • All type should be a minimum of 14 pt and readable from a distance of one metre. Use standard fonts/typefaces (e.g. Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman).
  • All poster panels should be printed with a laser or other high-quality printer.
What are the oral presentation guidelines?
Oral presentations will be 15 minute (12 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions).
Please plan for your talk to be 12 minutes; session chairs will interrupt any exceeding presentation.
