Bursaries

Young Scientist Meeting Grants – Instructions

Grants sponsored by FEMS and EFB Microbial Biotechnology Division are available for applicants who can provide evidence of eligibility for the student registration fee. These grants will be for 400 euros.

Deadline for application submission: 30 June 2026.

Grant applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 15 July 2026.

FEMS Bursaries

Applications are now open. An application can only be made after submitting an abstract.

To submit your application, please fill out the FEMS application form and send it to events@efbiotechnoloy.org 

Applicants for a FEMS bursary should:

  • be an Early Career Researcher and thus should either have obtained highest academic degree (Bachelor, Master or PhD) less than five years prior the application deadline, or be a PhD student
  • be an active microbiologist
  • be the first author and presenter of an accepted abstract for the PYFF9 Conference
  • attend the PYFF9 Conference and be a registered participant
  • be a member of a FEMS member society for at least one full year directly preceding the application deadline
  • be a resident in a European country or a country that has a FEMS member society

Bursary winners cannot transfer their free congress registration to someone else.

Divison Bursaries

The Microbial Biotechnology Division offers competitive bursaries for early career scientists to support their participation in PYFF9. These grants are designed to foster professional development, networking, and the dissemination of research, while helping to cover the costs associated with attending the meeting.
